An easy and delicious casserole excellent for weeknight cooking on a budget.

Serves: 6-8 servings
Ingredients
  • 1 small box of Spaghetti
  • 1½ lbs top ground hamburger meat
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 large onion diced
  • 1 tsp sugar (optional)
  • 1 can of manwich sauce
  • 1 small bottle of tomato sauce
  • 1½ cups of shredded cheddar cheese
  • salt and pepper to taste.
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  2. In a large sauce pan heat the olive oil over medium heat
  3. Add in the onions and saute lightly until soft.
  4. Add in the hamburger and season with salt and pepper to taste, stirring occasionally until it begins to brown.
  5. Reduce heat to low and add in manwich and tomato sauce, cover and let simmer.
  6. In a large pot bring water to a boil and add half tsp salt, then add the spaghetti.
  7. Cook spaghetti until it is al dente. (do not over cook)
  8. Drain the water from the spaghetti and return it to the pot with the butter.
  9. Add sugar to the hamburger mixture and stir well. Taste it for seasoning and add more if necessary.
  10. Carefully add the hamburger mixture to the pot with the spaghetti and stir until mixed together well.
  11. Pour into a casserole dish and cover with cheese.
  12. Bake until the cheese has melted completely. (do not overcook or the casserole will be dry)
  13. Remove from oven and serve hot.
Notes
Ground Turkey can be used as a substitute if you prefer not to eat meat. However, it may require a bit more seasoning.
