Budget Dinner -SPAGHETTI BAKE
Trying to figure out what you are going to cook during the week can sometimes be a challenge if you are not prepared and it is even worse when you are on a tight budget. Just because you’re on a budget doesn’t mean you can’t still have delicious wholesome meals. Matter of fact sometimes budget dinners turn out to be the best! You can make this spaghetti bake for less than $40. The meat in this recipe can also be substituted for ground turkey if you prefer. Throw in some side veggies and you’ve got yourself a complete meal.Â

SPAGHETTI BAKE
An easy and delicious casserole excellent for weeknight cooking on a budget.

Ingredients
- 1 small box of Spaghetti
- 1½ lbs top ground hamburger meat
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1 large onion diced
- 1 tsp sugar (optional)
- 1 can of manwich sauce
- 1 small bottle of tomato sauce
- 1½ cups of shredded cheddar cheese
- salt and pepper to taste.
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees
- In a large sauce pan heat the olive oil over medium heat
- Add in the onions and saute lightly until soft.
- Add in the hamburger and season with salt and pepper to taste, stirring occasionally until it begins to brown.
- Reduce heat to low and add in manwich and tomato sauce, cover and let simmer.
- In a large pot bring water to a boil and add half tsp salt, then add the spaghetti.
- Cook spaghetti until it is al dente. (do not over cook)
- Drain the water from the spaghetti and return it to the pot with the butter.
- Add sugar to the hamburger mixture and stir well. Taste it for seasoning and add more if necessary.
- Carefully add the hamburger mixture to the pot with the spaghetti and stir until mixed together well.
- Pour into a casserole dish and cover with cheese.
- Bake until the cheese has melted completely. (do not overcook or the casserole will be dry)
- Remove from oven and serve hot.
Notes
Ground Turkey can be used as a substitute if you prefer not to eat meat. However, it may require a bit more seasoning.
