A Signature Setting by Table For Eight
Last weekend I got a call from a client and good friend of mines, Dr. Kyjuan Brown. He was looking to create an everyday table setting for his home that was elegant and timeless. Table for Eight was hired to make that dream come true! As we are talking textiles this week, this was perfect timing to show how we can use textiles to create a table setting that reflects his personal style.
Personal Style
After talking to Dr. Brown , we were able to discern that his personal style is along the lines of contemporary chic. Meaning he likes the modern feel but he also leans toward trendy fashion or decor. Therefore, we decided to go for a design with basic colours and clean lines. After showing him a few options we nailed down a style that represented everything he wanted.
Textiles & Accessories
Dr. Brown’s dining table is a beautiful , very natural looking wood table with lots of visible knotting and a sort of golden hue, with a high gloss finish. We wanted to make sure the table could be seen in all its glory, so we decided against a full tablecloth and instead kept our textiles very simple. For textiles we did a crochet beige table runner with round woven place mats in beige. For the dinner napkin we went with an off white linen napkin with a gold printed overlay. The colour of the table and crochet runner with the woven place mats created a very nice contrast and warm feeling.
To add some dimension to the table setting we bought in a black square charger to go on top of the round place mats. We also went with a simple yet elegant gold napkin ring.
Centerpieces
For lighting and balance on the table we added two medium height candle holders, with unscented candles, so not to compete with the aroma of food and wine during dinner. Â We also added a fabulous gold vase with some greenery for the center of the table. This centerpiece is too big to be on the table during a dinner service but for an everyday table setting it brings a beautiful element to the table and serves as the focal point.
 Additional Personalization Options
If Dr. Brown wanted to further personalize this table setting for an actual Dinner Party, there are a few extra elements he could add. He could create another look by switching out the black square chargers and replacing them with gold ones. He could also add name tags to each place setting or he could replace the setting at each end of the table to signify that those are special seats at the table.
A special thank you to Dr. Kyjuan Brown for inviting Table for Eight  into his beautiful home, to personalize his dinner table.
